  • We’re glad you asked! L10NWorks is a vendor-neutral platform where localization professionals can share their expertise, as well as tools and information with other peers in the industry.

China-based CSOFT’s engineers have created this site as a venue to bring together localization engineers, translators, and industry stakeholders from around the world in an attempt to grow as a community from each other’s knowledge.

L10NWorks is open to anyone who would like to join and contribute.

That’s not a question! But it’s still important, so please bear with us for a moment as we briefly explain what the different sections of L10NWorks are all about:

If you take a look at our homepage, you can see that L10NWorks is composed of three parts: Localization 101, Tools, and Forum.

Localization 101 is a place of learning.

This is where we’ve gathered a whole heap of resources that are relevant to localization, globalization, and internationalization. You can visit Localization 101 to find up-to-date industry news, links to blogs and other helpful organizations, as well as brief introductions to various industry-specific publications and software.

This is a growing compendium. As such, we would appreciate as many suggestions and as much feedback as you’re willing to give. In this way, we can all help each other stay “with-it” and, most importantly, informative.

Our Tools engine is a place of working.

This is our baby—and you’re going to love it.

The Tools engine is where CSOFT engineers have gathered and embedded an assortment of free localization tools for you, the translation professional. All of the tools are geared towards complementing the various CAT and other production tools out there for professional use.

A large portion of these tools were developed over the years by our own engineers and can be used right here on the site, whereas some of the externally-developed utilities are available for your immediate download. In the near future, we will also start allowing users to upload their own tools to L10NWorks, at which point we can all start to benefit from the expertise of others.

All you need to do is register and this assortment of helpful tools will be at your immediate disposal.

The Forum is a place of sharing.

This is where localization newcomers and experts alike can come together and talk shop. Registered users can gather in the L10NWorks forum to share their localization experiences, problems and solutions with other members of the community.

It’s easy. All you need to do is click “Log In” at the top of any page, and then click “Register”. This will bring up a window with our terms and policies. Please read them through and then click “Accept”. This will produce the following prompt:

Please fill out all sections of the form and then click “Create User”. You’re done—welcome to the forums.

Note: For your security, please make sure that your password is difficult to replicate, and that it includes both numbers and letters.

First of all, we’re sorry for the bug and any inconvenience that it may have caused you; we’re still working on ironing out the kinks in our system.

For general bugs within the system, please post a topic in our forum (either in the FAQ or Bug Report forum) or contact us directly. Please be as specific as possible so that we can locate the problem and fix the bug in a timely manner.

For a bug within a specific tool, please send an e-mail to the address located in the “About” tab, and forward a copy of it to us as well. If it’s a third-party tool, please contact its developer directly.

    • How can I upload my own software to the tools page?

We’re sorry, but our system isn’t quite ready for uploading your tools just yet. But that doesn’t mean we’re not interested! Our team is working very hard to standardize all aspects of the tools engine, including its templates, development documents, and testing environment.

We still have a long list of tools that are going through this process and will be integrated with the site presently. Once the upload process is streamlined for yours and everyone else’s protection, then we will open our doors for solicitation.

We thank you very much for your patience and understanding.

Join us, please, and actively participate! We welcome all of your comments, suggestions, and ideas so that we can continue to improve the site and make it more useful for everyone. Community efforts are the key to making L10NWorks a success!

If you have a suggestion or requirement regarding a specific piece of content or feature on the site, please feel free to e-mail our development team at  developer@l10nworks.com.

For everything else, including features you’d like to see available on the site, information that you feel is lacking or incorrect, threatening letters or anything you can think of, please feel free to make a post on our forum or contact us directly.

Good question. First, click on a tool in the tools engine. This will bring up the following interface:

As you can see, there are four tabs along the top of the toolbox:

Upload/Download – This is where you can download a utility or directly upload your files to be processed by our server, depending on the type of tool.

Info – This is where you can find more detailed information about the tool’s function, use and revision history.

Feedback – This is where you can read other users’ comments and suggestions about the tool. (There is a section for rating each tool near the bottom of each page.)

Author – This is the where you can find information about the tool’s developer.

And that’s that! Feel free to try them out. The system is pretty intuitive; we’re confident that you’ll figure it out with relative ease.

    You mean these?

Owing to the large number of tools on our site, we have divided the list into several main categories for your browsing convenience. They’re pretty self-explanatory.

When browsing, click on the category of tool you’re interested in to expand it—a minus sign ( - ) to the left of the category indicates that it has been expanded to reveal the tools within. Click on it again and the list will contract, which is indicated by a plus sign ( + ) to the left.

If you feel that a particular tool has been placed in the wrong category, please let us know.

For those who would like to search for a specific tool, please note the “Find Tools” box at the top left-hand side of the tools page:

You can search for any tool by inputting its name in the search box and then clicking on the little magnifying glass.

As a neutral site, it is our mission to provide information in an objective way. L10NWorks does not endorse the use of any particular product over another. We’re here to lay out the information in a convenient and organized way, so that you can make an informed decision on your own.

If you have any concerns about the neutrality of any content on L10NWorks, by all means let us know. We can assure you it wasn’t intentional and we will rectify the situation as soon as possible.

That depends. Are you asking because you like it?

If so, we’re proud to say that the L10NWorks platform was initialized by CSOFT’s Research and Development Team. Although we are both the creators and host of this site, it is our intention to make L10NWorks a neutral platform, designed to benefit all members of the localization community. We look forward to having developers and translators outside of CSOFT join us in helping to create a more informative and useful venue in which everyone can grow and learn together.

If you’re asking because you don’t like it… well… yeah, we don’t know who developed it either. We just found it here.

That’s probably because it’s not asked very frequently—or we haven’t updated the FAQs in a while. Either way, we don’t want your question to go unanswered, so please feel free to e-mail us with any other questions, concerns, or comments you might have, and we will get back to you as soon as we possibly can.

    Thank you!
